Created by British dancer and teacher Gwendolen Nelson, Movement By Gwendolen offers outstanding Stretch & Strength online and in-person studio classes that train you like a dancer through low-impact ballet conditioning exercises combined with deep, active stretching techniques to tone, sculpt, and lengthen your body; unlocking your flexibility potential.
Designed for people from all walks of life from professional dancers and athletes to complete beginners with a desire to improve their mobility.
Through our classes and training you will discover how to safely increase your range of mobility, develop flexibility, and release tension by being guided through each step. You will learn to observe your sensations with compassion and acceptance while pushing your limits, learning to reconnect with yourself and listen to your body.

Gwendolen Nelson
Founder, Movement By Gwendolen
Gwendolen is a professional ballet and contemporary dancer, teacher, flexibility coach, and Movement Director working across live stage, Film/TV and Opera. Alongside her stage and film work, Gwendolen is an established ballet teacher and conditioning coach in the UK to both children and adults for all levels. With an encouraging and detailed approach, she enjoys training both dancers and non-dancers to learn, develop, and achieve.
Gwendolen discovered strength and flexibility coaching during a career of performing, teaching, and directing. With an excellent eye for detail and an awareness of individuals' capabilities and needs, she immediately became passionate about the practice she developed. Her teaching is based on artistry, breath, enjoyment, and technique detail. Her practice, together with her different trainings, led her to create her method of “Stretch & Strength Flexibility”.
Gwendolen trained at a variety of RAD and BBO ballet schools before obtaining a First Class BA (Hons) Degree in Dance from DeMontfort University. She then gained a place for a further year with the established BalletBoyz Dancer’s Course in London under directors Michael Nunn and William Trevitt, working with a variety of established dancers and choreographers.
Each class with Gwendolen is an invitation to explore, feel and develop your awareness of your body as an instrument and its wonderous capabilities. Gwendolen offers intuitive, dynamic, and softening flows, in her Stretch & Strength Flexibility classes. The postures and drills follow each other, building on themselves, unlocking your body's mobility with precision and fluidity; listening to your limits.
Gwendolen also offers private online classes for those looking to deepen their practice or address specific physical goals or needs. Her approach is individualized and compassionate, tailoring each session to her student’s unique needs and objectives.
